The flexible manufacturing cell (FMC) of Dongguan CNC plant is considered as a flexible manufacturing subsystem. The following are the differences between FMC and FMS:
1. FMC is not directly controlled by the central computer, and the instructions sent by the central computer are transmitted to the unit controller.
2. The number of parts families that FMC can manufacture is limited.
FMC generally consists of the following parts:
. unit controller
. programmable logic controller (PLC)
. more than one machine tool
. logistics equipment (robot or pallet)
