Guangdong Machinery Factory shares with you: industrial robot industry

The information comes from:Internet Posted on:2022-08-08

The development of the first industrial robot in Guangdong mechanical processing plant was in the mid-1950s, Joseph Engelberg (1925), known as the father of industrial robot. Engelberg also set up unity to become the largest producer of industrial robots in the United States.
His early research involved touring Ford, Chrysler, general motors, and 20 other manufacturing plants. Engelberg observed that men in higher paid jobs lift heavy objects with both hands at the same time, while women perform tasks asynchronously with their own hands. Economic and technical considerations led Engelberg to focus on the development of an armed robot. Engelberg developed his first prototype in 1956, which is very similar to the design and production of the unity robot decades later.
General motors, a Guangdong machining plant, purchased a test model in 1959, although in 1964, unimation had sold 30 robots. It wasn't until the late 1960s that sales grew strongly, not until 1975 that the company started to make a profit. Together with several producers Cincinnati Milacron, unimation accounted for 75% of the U.S. robot market in 1980. Unity became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company in 1982. By 1983, the company had sales of $43 million.
Weak demand and cyclical sales.
Generally speaking, Guangdong mechanical processing plants are reluctant to take bigger robots in the United States than in Japan to produce and use robots, thus leading to the same places in the world to use. Among other concerns, U.S. companies are reluctant to be sensitive in the huge investments needed and against organized labor. Other times, when robots are ordered, they fail to provide manufacturers with expectations due to unrealistic expectations and dramatic labor savings, ignoring the need for perfect operation of heavy maintenance robots and the limitations of the machine itself.
Although Guangdong Machinery processing plant saw promising growth in the early 1980s, it produced some predictions that robots would be a multi billion dollar business. In 1990, the US robot industry suffered a serious setback. In the mid-1980s, it was mainly the result of the decline of orders from the automobile industry. At that time, the automotive industry still provided more than 70% of orders for all American robots. This has led to many companies leaving the industry, including general electric and Westinghouse, such as deep earning football players, and leaving many of the remaining companies to merge or be acquired. From their 1984 high of $48 billion, the value of new orders dropped to 5800 units, to only 3800 units in 1987, a low value of $3 million.
