This kind of tool changing device is often used in CNC machine tools with rotating tools in Dongguan CNC processing plant. There are several spindles on the turret head, and each spindle is equipped with a tool. The turret head can automatically rotate to realize tool changing during processing. Its advantages are simple structure, short tool change time, only about 2S. However, due to the limitation of space position, the number of spindles can not be too much. Dongguan CNC processing plant is usually only suitable for machine tools with less processes and low accuracy, such as CNC drilling machines and CNC milling machines. In recent years, a kind of automatic tool changing device has appeared, which uses manipulator and turret head to cooperate with tool magazine for tool changing, as shown in Figure 2.3. It is actually a combination of turret head tool changer and magazine tool changer. The principle is as follows

There are two tool spindles 3 and 4 on the turret head 5. When the tool on the tool spindle 4 is used for processing, the manipulator 2 can change the tool needed in the next step to the tool spindle 3 which does not work. After this process is completed, the turret head rotates 180o to complete the tool change. Because most of the tool changing time coincides with the processing time, the real tool changing time only needs the rotation time of the turret head. This tool changing method is mainly used for CNC drilling machines and CNC file machines. Dongguan CNC processing plant is really good, worthy of attention!
