The influence of die material on die life is a comprehensive reflection of die material properties, chemical composition, microstructure, hardness and metallurgical quality. Among them, material properties and heat treatment quality have the most obvious influence. The properties of die material have a great influence on die life. For example, the same kind of workpiece, using different die materials to do bending test, the test results: with 9mn2v material, its life is 50000 times; The life of nitriding with Crl2MoV can reach 400000 times. Therefore, when selecting materials, Guangdong mechanical processing plant should reasonably select mold materials according to the batch size of parts. The hardness of die working parts has a great influence on die life. But it is not that the higher the hardness, the longer the die life. This is because hardness is closely related to strength, toughness and wear resistance. Some dies require high hardness and long service life. If the die is made of T10 steel, the hardness is 54 ~ 58hrc, and only a few thousand times of punching, the burr of the part will be very big. If the hardness is increased to 60-64hrc, the grinding life can reach 20000-30000 times. However, if the hardness continues to increase, early fracture will occur. Some die hardness should not be too high, such as using Crl2MoV manufacturing die, when the hardness is 58 ~ 62Hrc, the general service life is 20000 ~ 30000 pieces, the failure form is chipping and cracking, and if the hardness is reduced to 54 ~ 58hrc, the service life is increased to 50000 ~ 60000 pieces, but when the hardness is reduced to 50 ~ 53hrc, the die edge is easy to be blunt. It can be seen that the die hardness must be determined according to the material properties and failure forms.
