According to the numerous brittle and edge cracked tools that have been treated in Dongguan CNC processing plant, there are basically three forms of tool wear: flank wear, rake wear and V-notch wear. The flank wear occurs on both the main and secondary cutting edges. As for the main cutting edge, it is responsible for removing most of the metal chips, which leads to increasing the cutting force and cutting temperature. If it is left unchecked, it may lead to the vibration of the tool and workpiece, and the effective cutting conditions may no longer exist. As for the auxiliary blade, it determines the size and surface finish of the workpiece. The wear of the flank may cause unqualified products and poor surface finish. Dongguan CNC machining plant in most of the actual cutting conditions, because the main rake face is worn before the auxiliary rake face, when the wear reaches enough, the tool will be effective, the result is made into unqualified parts.
Due to the uneven stress distribution on the tool surface, the stress in the sliding contact area between the chip and the rake face is the largest at the beginning of the sliding contact area and zero at the end of the contact area, so the abrasive wear occurs in this area. This is because there is more serious wear near the cutting stuck area than near the cutting edge, and the wear near the cutting edge is lighter due to the loss of contact between the chip and the rake face. As a result, pits are formed on the rake face at a certain distance from the cutting edge, which are usually considered as rake face wear. Generally, the wear cross section is circular. In many cases and for the actual cutting conditions, the wear of rake face is lighter than that of flank in Dongguan CNC plant, so flank wear is more commonly used as the scale mark of tool failure. However, as many authors have shown, the temperature on the rake face rises faster than that on the rake face when the cutting speed is increased, and any form of wear rate is substantially affected by the temperature change. Therefore, the wear of rake face usually occurs in high speed cutting.
The end of the wear belt of the main flank of the tool is in contact with the unprocessed workpiece surface, so the wear of the flank is more obvious than that along the end of the wear belt, which is the most common. This is because of the local effect, which is like the hardened layer on the rough surface. This effect is caused by the hardening of the workpiece caused by the previous cutting. Not only cutting, but also local high temperature produced by the blade, such as oxide scale, can cause this effect. This kind of local wear is usually called pitting wear, and occasionally it is very serious. Although the appearance of pits has no significant effect on the cutting properties of the tool, the pits often become deeper gradually. If the cutting continues, the tool will be in danger of fracture.
If any progressive form of wear is allowed to continue to develop in Dongguan CNC processing plant, the final wear rate will increase significantly, and the cutting tool will have destructive failure damage, that is, the cutting tool will no longer be used for cutting, resulting in the scrapping of the workpiece, that is good, serious damage can cause the machine tool. For all kinds of cemented carbide tools and all kinds of wear, it is considered that the end of tool life cycle has been reached before serious failure occurs. However, for all kinds of high-speed steel tools, the wear is non-uniform wear. It has been found that when the wear is allowed to continue or even to the beginning of serious failure, the most significant thing is that the tool can be used for regrinding. Of course, in practice, the cutting time is much shorter than the time from use to failure. One of the following phenomena is the beginning of serious tool failure: the most common is the sudden increase of cutting force, burning ring and serious increase of noise on the workpiece.
